Abraham Lincoln once said, “Whatever you are, be a good one.” Lincoln was a hard worker and believed that if anything was to be done, it was to be done right. Lincoln was also the kind of man who stood by his morals and stuck to what he felt was right, and if he felt as if something was wrong, he would try to change it. In the world we live today, there are not enough people who will stand up for their beliefs as Lincoln did. And if something wrong is happening, he felt it was his job as a human, not a president, to stand up and change it. Lincoln also has a quote that says “When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion.” He is a man who goes by his heart, he does what he thinks is right, and changed things he thought were wrong. For example, he did not agree with slavery, so he stood up and abolished it! Lincoln was a great man, with a great heart. I am challenging you to be as Lincoln was. Stand up for the things that are right, and change things that are wrong. If some people followed their heart half as much as Lincoln, the world would be a much better place. The bad things in this world need to change, but that change starts with us. We have to stand up for things as Lincoln did. Change what we need to change. There need not be complications in the world. Do what you believe is right, follow your heart. Hunter Lowry Fisher High school Fisher IL
