Bridget Lamont>Bridget L. Lamont was the Director of the Illinois State Library for 16 years where she was responsible for library operations and coordinating a statewide network of over 3000 libraries. During her tenure, she co-managed the construction of the new Illinois State Library Building. She was the Director of Policy Development in the Governor Ryan administration. During that time, she developed, assessed and implemented policies and programs with state agencies, constituent groups and numerous organizations. She was a board member and Chair of the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board.

She was a board member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association; Vice-Chair of the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science; a member of the board of the National Council on Literacy; and recipient of numerous honors from the Illinois and American Library Associations; the Illinois Humanities Council and other organizations.

She is a graduate of Clarke College (Dubuque, Iowa); received her Master’s degree from the University of Illinois; and an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Dominican University.
