		<description><![CDATA[One of my favorite commemorative trees is planted on the grounds of the Old Barracks, Trenton, NJ (where the Hessian soldiers were celebrating Christmas when Washington surprised them after crossing the Delaware.   This is the text on the plaque: Washington first took command of the American army under the grandparent of this elm at Cambridge, Mass July 3, 1775.   Second plaque:  Dogwood planted in 1982 to replace the 1932 &quot;Washington elm&quot; which commemorated the 200th anniversary of George Washington&#039;s birth.  So, a tree to honor a tree, which was the grandtree of a famous tree.]]></description>
