However, I can not say that I fully concur with the idea that &quot;Lincoln believed in the political and legal equality of black and white.&quot; It is well and highly documented that Lincoln struggled IMMENSLY with the emancipation of Blacks. He, for lack of better words, said one thing in public, but behind closed doors, he strongly advocated slavery.
Books, such as &quot;The History of Blacks in the White House,&quot; document the hidden truths about what Lincoln did, how he felt and things he said in advocacy of the continued enslavement of Blacks.]]></description>
