Sam Fink's The Gettysburg Address
November 19, 2008 - mid January, 2009
(To coincide with the anniversary of the Gettysburg address)
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library

To celebrate the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library will exhibit the original art created for the book, The Gettysburg Address, illustrated by master calligrapher and artist Sam Fink.

The Gettysburg Address, published by Welcome Books in 2007, includes an introduction by Gabor Boritt, the world-renowned Lincoln scholar and author of The Gettysburg Gospel.

The art from which that book was published will go on view at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois on November 19, 2008, the anniversary date of the 1863 Gettysburg Address. It may be seen at the library through mid January, 2009. Admission to the exhibition is free.

The original Gettysburg Address contains 270 words. The exhibit contains 35 major pieces of hand-lettered art, each measuring 16 by 23 inches. This magnificent rendering of the famed address captures the emotion and the power of Lincoln’s legendary words spoken on November 19, 1863.

There is also an additional piece of art and a chronology of events leading up to the ratification of the 13th Amendment that abolished slavery.
