ALPLM 1-Year Anniversary

Daytime Event Schedule

10:00 am Press Conference in Plaza Interim Executive Director Tom Schwartz will recognize one-year anniversary and the successful first year. Announcement by Barry Mitchell, President of ComEd, an Exelon Company regarding the Exelon donation to the ALPL Foundation/unveil Union Theater sign.
10:15 am Director Schwartz will announce State Bicentennial Commission members Summary of ALPLM Bicentennial projects and highlights in the Education Dept.

A Year in Mrs. Lincoln's Attic: A Look Back ‚ free standing exhibit will be displayed April 19-23 across from Mrs. Lincoln's Attic showcasing artwork and special events throughout the year - Lincoln Magnet School to participate
11:00 am State Bicentennial Commission Organizational Meeting/Luncheon in the Lincoln Reception Room
11:00 am Birthday cake will be served in the Library Atrium sponsored by the Foundation (served until out)

Evening Event Schedule

7:00 pm Milestones - Panel discussion in the Library Multi Purpose Room Hear the perspectives of 3 experts in different fields as they look back on the Museum's first year of operation.
  • Myron Marty, Professor Emeritus of History at Drake University
  • Joe Garrera, President of the Lincoln Group of New York
  • Phil Rogers, NBC Chicago Reporter

Rogers will present excerpts from the Chicago Emmy award winning documentary on the Museum. Free admission, reservations recommended 217-558-8881

Throughout the Day

Members of the 10th Illinois Cavalry Band will play Civil War music

Lincoln impersonator, Randy Duncan will portray President Lincoln and interact with guests

Lee Slider will portray Professor Phineas Fairhead, a fictious 19th century traveling practical phrenologist. He will measure and examine the heads of members of the audience, demonstrating a popular 19-century fad to determine a person's character.

Performer Randy Erwin will sing songs of the Civil War
