Lincoln's stovepipe hat (purchased in a Springfield shop and the only Lincoln beaver-fur hat in existence) and blood-stained gloves he carried on the evening of his assassination.
The earliest known writings of Abraham Lincoln, this sum book page from between 1824-1826 was used to practice long division as well as demonstrate Lincoln's developing sense of humor:
"Abraham Lincoln is my name. And with my pen I wrote the same. I wrote in both hast and speed and left it here for fools to read."

 HATS OFF TO ABE LINCOLN
Two Centuries, One Legacy, and You
You can help preserve Lincoln's life and help share his story.
While many people around the world have heard bits and pieces of
Lincoln's story, more than two million visitors have had the opportunity to
experience the Lincoln Legacy at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library
and Museum. In this Lincoln Bicentennial year, the Foundation has
celebrated many milestones, and today you have the opportunity to help
us continue our work.
When you give to the Foundation's 2009 Annual Fund, you will be joining
countless others to ensure that the ALPLM remains the Permanent Home
for an unsurpassed collection of Lincoln-related artifacts.
The Museum brings Lincoln to life as visitors view his stovepipe hat
(purchased in a downtown Springfield shop and the only Lincoln beaver-fur
hat in existence), the blood-stained gloves he carried on the evening of his
assassination, and original documents exhibiting his earliest writings.
These items are just a small part of more than 1,500 objects in the Taper
Collection, the world's largest private collection of Lincolniana recently
acquired by our Foundation. This collection is unique because the objects
reflect Lincoln's private life as well as his presidency
