Cataloging & Acquisitions

Cataloging & Acquisitions
The Cataloging and Acquisitions staff are responsible for ordering and processing published titles for the collection. They assign call numbers and subject headings, and add them to a local online catalog (Horizon) and to OCLC (an international bibliographic database). The Library uses the Cutter classification system for its published collection. In addition, ALPL published titles are included in Worldcat, an international bibliographic database to which most U.S. libraries belong. Worldcat is a part of the OCLC First Search database.

Individuals interested in donating titles to the ALPL are strongly urged to contact:

Gary Stockton
Chief of Acquisitions
Telephone: (217) 524-5939
Email: Gary.Stockton@illinois.gov
