Help kids in need and win big prizes as the
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum
kicks off its Toys for Tots "Drive for 2005"


SPRINGFIELD, IL: This holiday season, join the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum by helping make Christmas a bit brighter for area boys and girls. On Saturday, December 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Presidential Library will host the second annual "Toys for Tots Drive for 2005," with a goal of collecting 2005 new, unwrapped toys for distribution to less fortunate children in the Springfield area. Several businesses have donated prizes which will be awarded to visitors who take part. Individuals or families that drop off a new, unwrapped toy will receive a free lunch, compliments of Augie's CafÈ and are automatically eligible to enter the big prize drawing.

Prizes include:
  • Grand Prize is a deluxe weekend getaway to Chicago with CityPass tickets for two.
  • New Years Weekend Getaway package from the Springfield Hilton
  • Gift certificates from Tuscany Restaurant, Porgy's Gift Shop, Bridge Jewelers, Robbies's, Cracker Barrel, Maldaner's Restaurant, Andiamo's Ö.and much more!

The ALPLM is teaming up again this year with WICS-TV Channel 20 and WQQL (Cool 101.3) Radio as premier co-sponsors of this event. WQQL will be on site broadcasting live from 10 a.m. to noon in the Presidential Library on the 17th.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during the holidays each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children in the community in which the campaign is located. Toy drop boxes are located in the lobbies of both the Presidential Library and Museum.
