Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum Welcomes the 50,000th Visitor
50,000th Visitor Arrives A Day Before the One Month Anniversary of the Museum Dedication

SPRINGFIELD, IL., - The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum today welcomed the 50,000th visitor since it opened to the public on April 16, 2005. Nancy Baker from St. Louis, Missouri arrived at the museum at 1:27 p.m., just a day before the one month anniversary of the museum dedication that took place on April 19, 2005.

"Marking the 50,000 visitor to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, just one month after the dedication, is a clear sign of the strong success of this world class institution," said Gov. Blagojevich. "Everyone involved in the making of this museum and the work that went into this project should be extremely proud of such an accomplishment. Interest in the museum will only grow as the word spreads and continues to attract visitors to Springfield from areas across the country and distant parts of the globe."

"Welcoming 50,000 visitors in barely a month surpasses all our expectations," said Richard Norton Smith, the ALPLM Executive Director. "They've come from every corner of America, and many nations around the globe. And their reaction has been universally positive - which means even bigger numbers ahead, thanks to word of mouth advertising."

Nancy was welcomed to the museum by Illinois State Historian Tom Schwartz with a certificate and received a gift bag from Susan Mogerman, Chief Operating Officer of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation. The gift bag included a $100 gift certificate to the museum gift shop, a museum t-shirt, compact disc, book, mug, poster, ornament and chocolates.
