Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum to host Holiday events

Springfield, Ill. On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in partnership with Springfield's Catholic Charities/Holy Family Food Pantry will host a food collection drive. Folks are encouraged to drop off canned or non-perishable food items between 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Atrium of the Library. In addition, free crafts for children will be offered from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Library. Children are asked to bring in an item for the food drive.

Live musical entertainment will be provided all weekend in the Presidential Museum. Saturday, Dec. 2nd performances include:

Also on Saturday, at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Gabor S. Boritt, author of The Gettysburg Gospel: The Lincoln Speech that Nobody Knows, will host a book discussion Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Museum's Union Theater. A book signing in the Museum Store will follow Dr. Boritt's presentation. Reserve a free admission ticket by calling 217-558-8881.

From Nov. 24 - Jan. 7, 2007, the Museum's temporary exhibit, "...to cherish peace and good will..." Holidays at the White House will be showcased in the Illinois Gallery. Regular Museum admission of $7.50 for adults, $3.50 for children and $5.50 for senior citizens will apply.
