I think Abraham Lincoln was a superior president. I think this because of all his great accomplishments. President Lincoln abolished slavery in the United States while passing the Emancipation Proclamation. He gave the Gettysburg address speech which people still refer to today.
The Emancipation Proclamation was a step towards the abolishment of slavery. This proclamation didn't actually abolish slavery, because it only applied to the territories and not specifically under Lincolns control, the thirteenth amendment was the actual law that abolished slavery in the United Sates.
The Gettysburg address was a speech in order to honor the soldiers who
risked their lives on the Gettysburg battlefield. This speech he gave showed how Lincoln was passionate about those who fought in that battle. This speech is still referred to today as a reference of integrity. Politicians consider Lincoln the wisest president there has ever been.
Lincoln, nicknamed "Honest Abe", was self educated, and became a
lawyer all on his own. Lincoln didn't come from money, but he'd worked with what had. Lincoln fought to preserve the union. This was courageous to him because there were counterarguments against his decision. Soon after, he fought to abolish slavery.
Abraham Lincoln was a great president considering just a few of these great things that he'd done for our country in one lifetime. Lincoln was a great portrayer of leadership and independence. He showed his love for the United States and fought for every citizen to be equal. “I claim not to have controlled events, but confess plainly that events have controlled me." This shows that Lincoln was independent and stood up for what he believed in.
